StrumTree

Aged Care Music Program

Bringing Music and Joy to Canberra’s Aged Care Residents Since 2024

The ARIIA concluded that 1 in 3 Australians living in residential aged care are socially isolated.[ARIIA]

The solution?

StrumTree isn’t just about learning guitar. It’s about sharing our music journey with the Canberra community.

We pride ourselves on high-quality music tuition, but most of all we strive to create a fun experience for everyone!

We love to hear stories of student success. See what our community says!

What does it look like?

Picture a room filled with ecstatic residents, belting out their favourite sing-along songs, while tapping their feet and re-living the music of their youth. That’s what StrumTree is.

Every week in Canberra we provide interactive 60-minute music activities of well-known easy-to-sing repertoire, and large print lyric booklets so that everyone can join in and feel part of the community.

Our Aged Care Music Program is more than a regular performance: it is a community project, connecting aged care residents to meaningful music provided by the Canberra community.

The Experience

What do the residents say?

We often hear about how our music activities can be the highlight of someone’s week! We are told that after an activity, residents continue to sing and hum songs cheerfully for the rest of the day.

“We would like to thank StrumTree for the wonderful Christmas concert this morning. The feedback from our residents has all been positive, and they thoroughly enjoyed the music and singing.”
